Club Overview

Placer County Schutzhund Club is a full member club of United Schutzhund Clubs of America, and is part of the Northwestern Region of USCA. Our club contains members with wide ranges of experience, from handlers who have competed at national and world-level competitions to new handlers looking to title their first dog. PCSC is geared primarily toward training both dog and handler for competition in IPO/Schutzhund, whether it be at a club, regional, national, or international level. We are a very goal-oriented club; we work hard to ensure our members achieve their titles and compete with their dogs to the best of their abilities.

Training Techniques

The handling and training here at PCSC is reflective of the high standards and extensive experience of our Training Director and our veteran club members. While individuals employ a variety of top training techniques that are tailored to their particular dogs, the overall training at PCSC is very positive, based on fair, humane, reward-based treatment of the dog. Handlers are encouraged to try better and more precise ways to clearly instruct their dogs in the individual exercises, and to quickly reward the desired behavior. This is a learning community where the handlers are encouraged to interact with and learn from each other as they go about training their dogs.

For more information on our club training rules, please see our Training page.

Training Field

The PCSC training field is located on the outskirts of Lincoln, a rural town in Northern California just 30 miles outside of Sacramento. We have a stadium-sized grass training field for obedience and protection, ample parking at both ends of the field, large oak trees for shade at the south end, and an old community building that serves as our clubhouse. Our field is equipped with stadium lighting for evening training and trials. PCSC also shares our training facility and our Training Director with several local law enforcement agencies for the purpose of training their K9 units.
